Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference is Sold Out

The 2008 World Wide Developers Conference, scheduled for June 9-13, has sold out. This is amazing for two reasons. First, in its long history, it has never sold out before, not even when it was held in San Jose’s Convention Center, which is a much smaller venue than the Moscone Center in San Francisco. And second, the cost. WWDC 08 is not an inexpensive get-together. Unlike Macworld, with its tiered pricing schedule that includes inexpensive passes to the convention center and its vendor displays, WWDC has no “cheap seats.” The standard price begins at $1,295, and increases considerably when you throw in the cost of travel, hotel, and meals.
For Apple and for us, the WWDC sellout is good news. It means that developers are unusually keen on developing products for the Mac OS, as well as for iPods and iPhones.
I think we can look forward to some remarkable product announcements from developers later this year and into early next year. What’s at the top of your wish list?

I wish someone could make an application that turns an iPod touch into a device that can accept video streams. Then I can strap one to my camera and record video through from firewire. Wishful thinking.
