Apple Captures 66% of Computer Sales Over $1,000

Information Week recently cited a report by NPD Group, a well-regarded market research firm, which states that Apple has been able to grab 66% of computer sales valued at over $1,000. NPD specifically measures retail brick-and-mortar store operations, so the numbers include Apple retail stores, but not online sales.
The report’s lack of online sales data means that we don’t know the true numbers for market share for the $1000+ computer market. Both Apple and Dell have huge online sales, which are not reflected in this report. Even so, the report shows that Apple is very successful at positioning its computers as having a higher value than the competition.
Of course, you and I knew this all along; it’s just one of many reasons that Macs are our preferred computing environment. What are your top reasons for using Macs? Stop by the Focus on Macs forums and let us know.
