Adobe has just released version 9 of Acrobat, which is widely used for the creation of PDF (Portable Document Format) documents. The most notable new feature in Acrobat 9 is the option to insert video within a PDF; the video will play whenever anyone views the PDF with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Other new or enhanced features include the ability to convert part or all of a web page to PDF; the ability to convert DWG (AutoCAD) files to PDF format, without the AutoCAD application; one-button conversions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Access, and Publisher documents; enhanced review tracking; and 256-bit data encryption to protect any documents you create with Acrobat.

Adobe will offer Acrobat 9 in three versions (Standard, Pro, and Extended), although only the Pro version is Mac compatible. The Mac-compatible version will also be included in the various Adobe Creative Suite 3 bundles.
