MacBook Trackpad to Get Software Fix for Lost Clicks

Wednesday November 5, 2008

The new glass trackpad in the MacBook Pro is the subject of a number of complaints about button clicks that aren’t being detected by the OS, even though the user can hear the click occurring. The buttonless trackpad is supposed to register a click when you press down in one of the lower corners, or when you use finger gestures, such as a one-finger tap for the primary mouse button or a two-finger tap for the secondary mouse button.

Thankfully for all you new MacBook and MacBook Pro owners, the problem doesn’t seem to be with the hardware. Apple says that a software patch will be available soon.
