Apple Schedules Keynote Event for September

Apple is believed to have scheduled a keynote event for the week of September 7th. The company traditionally uses the month of September to announce entertainment-related products, such as iPods, Apple TV, and new iTunes features.

Rumors about what the September event will reveal abound. New iPods are, of course, the most likely candidate. I hope to see a new iPod touch and iPod nano, with integrated cameras for recording video as well as still photos. It’s also about time for an iTunes update, with official support for Blu-ray technology.

Some rumors are unlikely to see daylight in September. An Apple tablet, which seems to be at the top of nearly every rumormonger’s list, is almost sure to be a no-show.

Will Steve Jobs headline the event? That remains to be seen. Steve has yet to make an official public appearance since his return, albeit part-time, to Apple.
