HP Will Provide Real-Time Support for Customers Upgrading to Snow Leopard

Last Saturday, I posted about upgrading my Mac Pro to Snow Leopard, and the minor problem I had with an HP 5000n printer not showing up after the upgrade. I noted that I was able to correct the problem by making a simple change to the printing protocol I was using.

Since then, a few others have reported similar issues with printers from many different manufacturers not showing up after an upgrade to Snow Leopard.

This morning, I received an email from one of HP’s public relations groups, letting me know that HP will provide real-time support through its HP Support Forums. Specifically, on September 9th from 8 am to 5 pm PT (11 am to 8 pm ET), HP will have a slew of experts staffing its forums and responding to questions about getting HP peripherals working with Snow Leopard.

Of course you don’t have to wait until the 9th to get answers to your questions. The Mac Printing & Scanning Board on the HP Support Forums is already brimming with tips to get printers and scanners working with Snow Leopard.

Apple has also posted a complete list of printers and scanners whose drivers are already included on the Snow Leopard DVD.

Finally, Gutenprint has a list of the printers supported by the Gutenprint drivers included with Snow Leopard.
