Chrome Browser for Mac Still a No-Show

According to MacNN, Google CEO Eric Schmidt insisted that a version of Google's Chrome browser would be available for the Mac by the end of this year. Chrome, which was first released for Windows a little over a year ago, was considered noteworthy for its rendering speed, JavaScript engine, and ability to dedicate separate processes for each tab, effectively isolating each web site within its own process.

A Mac version of Chrome could be considered long overdue or of little more than passing interest. While Chrome was noteworthy when it was first released, the long wait for a Mac version makes me wonder just how committed Google will be to maintaining and updating it. It's good to have choices in software, including browsers, but not if they're here today and gone tomorrow.
