Bloomberg is reporting that Apple retail stores are running low on iPads. Nearly all of the 19 stores Bloomberg contacted have no iPad WiFi + 3G models in stock and limited availability of WiFi-only models.

Apple's online store currently shows a shipping delay of 5-7 days on all models. Even with the current shortages, Apple is going ahead with the international launch of the iPad in nine countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK) on May 28. This indicates that Apple has some available stock in country-specific models waiting for the launch date. It also probably means that the supply issues are short term, and that Apple believes its suppliers are making progress on meeting demands.
Nine additional countries (Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Singapore) will be added to the sales market for the iPad in July, and Apple has given no indications of a change in the rollout schedule.
