Hands Off! from Metakine monitors your Mac for any application that attempts to access your local network, the Internet, or your local disks. Hands Off! sits in the background and pops up a window when an application tries to phone home or perform any number of other questionable tasks.

Hands Off!

You can set up rules and privileges for each application. For instance, an application could be allowed to connect to a single domain to check for updates, but not allowed to connect to any other Internet site or service.

You can also control how an application uses your local storage. You can prevent cookies from being written to your hard drives, or prevent access to sensitive data.

Hands Off! not only protects you from questionable application activities, it can also be a great learning tool to see just what all those applications you have downloaded are really trying to do.

Hands Off! is $19.95. A demo is available.
