Around this time every year, I update my list of the top 10 apps I install on any new Mac. This list is a little different than most of the top 10 lists you find around the web, because it concentrates on the 10 apps you always install first. Not your favorite apps, necessarily, but the ones you use most often or can't do without.

For me that means a handful of utilities make the list ahead of some productivity apps, because I need these utilities to get the Mac set up. It may also be because I just like utilities.
