With a catchy one-liner, "We've got a little more to show you," Apple invited the press to an event to be held on October 23 at the California Theater in San Jose.
The only clue to what Apple will be announcing comes in a single word: little (emphasis mine). The word could easily refer to the much-rumored and much-expected iPad mini. It could also be the theme of the event, and encompass other small products, such as new Mac minis and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. This is the smallest model in the MacBook Pro lineup, so it fits with the "little" theme.
And although they don't fit the theme, I wouldn't be surprised to see new iMacs, either at the event or in the Apple Store after the event.
The event will be held at 10:00 am PST on October 23, 2012. One thing that caught my eye was the location for the event: the California Theater in San Jose. To my knowledge, Apple has never used this venue before. It usually holds press events in the small theater on the Apple campus or at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco.
The California Theater is the old Fox Theater, one of those grand old movie houses that so often are torn down or divided into multiple retail spaces. The Fox Theater was renovated in 2004 and re-opened as the California Theater. It's a lovely venue, and I hope Apple uses it again.
