Apple hasn't yet revealed a release date for OS X Mavericks but many of us can't wait for the newest version of OS X. The release data is anybody's guess; unless, of course, you're on the development team and scrambling to meet a deadline that's fast approaching.

If I had to pick a release date for OS X Mavericks, I'd say late September or early October. The release date may be tied to the appearance of the new Mac Pro, which is slated for some time in the fall.
But you don't have to wait for the release of Mavericks to start getting ready for it. In fact, it's a good idea to start performing various system cleanup and drive maintenance tasks, as well as check for any issues that could cause the install to go bad.
Taking the time now to get your Mac in order may even give you some breathing room if you need to order any upgrades, such as RAM or a larger drive.
