VMware Tools is a set of special drivers that make it much easier to interact with the Vista virtual machine. The keyboard and mouse drivers let you move in and out of Vista without using the Ctrl + command key combination on your keyboard. (The command key is the one with the cloverleaf symbol.) VMware Tools also provides enhanced video support and integrated networking with OS X.
Install VMware Tools
- Press the Ctrl + command keys to release the keyboard and mouse from the Vista virtual machine.
- Select 'Install VMware Tools' from the Virtual Machine menu.
- Fusion will display a warning about installing VMware Tools, letting you know you that the guest OS must be running (which it is).
- Click the ‘Install' button.
- Vista will ask if you want to install or run a program.
- Click the 'Run setup.exe' button.
- Vista’s User Account Control feature will rear its ugly head, warning you that you're about to run an application identified as being authored by VMware, Inc. (like you didn't know this already).
- Click the ‘Continue' button to launch the VMware Tools setup wizard.
