Install Windows Vista on a Standard Fusion Virtual Machine

The VMware Tools Wizard

Now that we've managed to make our way past Vista's User Account Control feature, the VMware Tools wizard will lead us through the VMware Tools installation process.

VMware Tools Wizard

  1. Click the ‘Next’ button.

  2. Select the type of installation you want to perform.

    • Typical. Installs the program features used by this VMware product only. Select this option if you intend to run this virtual machine only under Fusion.

    • Complete. Installs all features and makes the virtual machine portable to other VMware products.

    • Custom. Lets you pick and choose the features you want to install.

  3. Select Typical.

  4. Click the ‘Next’ button.

  5. Click the ‘Install’ button to begin installing VMware Tools.

  6. The VMware Tools wizard will complete the installation.

  7. Click the ‘Finish' button.

  8. VMware Tools must restart Vista before the drivers can be activated.

  9. Click the ‘Yes’ button to restart Vista.

Vista will restart and display the login window. Enjoy your new OS.
