Set the Time and Date, and Log In for the First Time

Vista needs you to tell it what time zone you live in. Once you do that, with any luck, Vista will display the current time and date. But if Vista gets it wrong, you can correct it in this step.

Setting the Time

  1. Select your time zone from the dropdown menu.

  2. Set the date by clicking on the current date in the calendar.

  3. Set the correct time by highlighting the time and using the up or down arrows to make changes.

  4. Click the ‘Next’ button.

  5. Click the 'Start' button to finish the Vista install process.

Log In for the First Time

Once the Vista installation is complete, the login screen will be display.

  1. Enter your password.

  2. Click 'Enter' or click the right-facing arrow button.

The first login can take a little time, because Vista must first configure your desktop.
