Parallels Tools is a set of special drivers that make it much easier for you and your Mac to interact with the Vista virtual machine. The keyboard and mouse drivers let you move in and out of Vista without needing to use the CTRL + ALT keys to regain control of your mouse. Parallels Tools also provides enhanced video support, integrated networking with your Mac, and all-around goodness.
Install Parallels Tools
- Press the CTRL + ALT keys to release the keyboard and mouse from being captives of the Vista virtual machine.
- From the Actions menu, select Install Parallels Tools.
- Parallels will warn you that you must be logged in to your Vista account (which you are at this point) to proceed with the Parallels Tools installation.
- Click the ‘OK’ button.
- Vista will warn you that the publisher of PTStart.exe isn't specified. That’s OK, because you know that PTStart.exe is the Parallels Tools installer.
- Click the 'Run PTStart.exe' button.
- Vista’s User Account Control feature will rear its ugly head and warn you that you're about to run an application that comes from an unidentified source.
- Click the ‘Allow’ button. Finally, after all those warnings, the Parallels Tools setup wizard will make its appearance.
