January is almost here, and tea leaf readers and crystal ball gazers are making Macworld predictions. I have a more scientific way of divining the future; I ask one of our cats. Casey shared his predictions for Macworld 2008 with me; now I’ll share them with you.
1. iPhone 2.0
A no-brainer, as AT&T has already divulged its likely existence.2. Mac Mini Replacement
This could take the form of a new Mac Mini, or a combined Mac Mini/AppleTV product. No matter what shape it takes, the Mac Mini name is done for; these devices will have a new moniker.3. AppleTV 2.0
AppleTV has languished a bit. The next generation is an opportunity for Apple to correct the shortcomings of the original AppleTV.4. Sub Notebook
Not the rumored iTablet, but a new sub notebook. Expect to see an LED-based display and maybe Flash RAM-based storage. No hard drive, for ultra-long battery life.5. New Displays
The current Apple Cinema displays haven’t been updated for at least two years. Expect new displays, and a new name.6. New iPod Shuffle
Aside from some color options, the Shuffle hasn’t had any extensive updates.7. iTunes Movie Rentals
Downloadable movie rentals that can be used on multiple devices (such as the iPhone and the iTouch) for a specific time frame before they stop working.
