Name Your iPhotos

Add a Descriptive Name

By Tom Nelson, About.com

When you transfer images from your camera into iPhoto, the first thing you may notice is that each image's name is something less than descriptive. In most cases, iPhoto keeps the names assigned by your camera's internal file system, such as CRW_0986 or Photo 1. Neither name is very helpful when it comes to sorting or searching images.

To change a photo's name, click its thumbnail to select it, and then click the Title text, located in the top left corner of the iPhoto Information window. Enter a descriptive name for the photo, and press the return key. Not only does your photo now have a more descriptive name, you will also be able to use iPhoto's Search function to find a specific image with ease.
